The office building in Question is owned and operated by The City of Greater Dandenong, a municipality in Melbourne’s south east covering an area of almost 130 square kilometres with over 166,000 residents. It’s a wide footprint two-floored building plus a basement of over 3,000 square metres. The building automation controls were installed relatively recently but lacked support from the supplier and had no open protocol interface. Remote access for monitoring or troubleshooting was impossible, resulting in facilities management’s grievances against no remote access to examine complaints from building occupants. Blue IoT was contracted in December 2018 to provide a total solution for the HVAC control and monitoring & replace the BMS system with a fully open platform including remote access control and monitoring for authorised staff. Blue IoT has since been a trusted service provider of building and energy management for The City of Greater Dandenong through Encompass Blue – an IoT Smart Cities management platform suite.
